Frequently Asked Questions

Why Canopy Therapy?

The name Canopy Therapy comes from the idea of a forest canopy — a place of shelter, perspective, and growth. Just as a canopy provides protection and space for new life to flourish, my goal is to create a safe, supportive environment where clients can explore, heal, and strengthen their relationships with themselves and others.

Do you offer in-person or online therapy sessions in Wyoming and Idaho?

Yes. I meet with clients in person at my Jackson, Wyoming office and also offer secure online therapy sessions for clients located in Wyoming and Idaho. This flexibility allows you to choose the setting that works best for you.

Who do you work with?

I work with individuals, couples, and families. My practice includes experience with adolescent males, adults navigating life transitions, and couples who want to reconnect, improve communication, and strengthen their relationship.

What approach do you use in therapy?

My work is grounded in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). These approaches help clients better understand emotions, break negative patterns, and move toward healthier, more fulfilling connections. I have extensive experience with a multitude of evidence based approaches and each session is tailored to your unique needs and goals.

How long are sessions?

Most sessions are 50 minutes. Longer sessions may be scheduled for couples or families if needed.

How often will we meet?

Many clients choose weekly or every-other-week sessions at the beginning. We’ll work together to find a schedule that supports your goals and feels sustainable for you.

How do I schedule a session?

Once we connect, I’ll set you up with a secure TherapyNotes client portal. Through the portal, you can complete intake paperwork, manage scheduling, and update information at any time.

What is your fee? Do you take insurance?

The fee for a session is $275. I strive to make therapy as accessible as possible and am mindful of each client’s individual needs. At the same time, I balance this with the realities of running a sustainable practice so I can continue offering care to our community. If cost ever feels like a concern, please reach out — I’m committed to working with you to find a plan that helps make therapy manageable and supportive.

I accept insurance and I am in-network with BCBS. We can also provide claims for Out of Network benefits where applicable. Some insurance plans do not cover couples, relationship or family counseling.

What can I expect in the first session?

The first session is a chance to get to know each other, talk through what brings you to therapy, and outline your goals. We’ll begin to clarify what feels most important for you right now and set a direction for our work together.

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

Therapy provides a space to pause, reflect, and explore new ways of relating to yourself and others. Therapy supports change by helping you develop practical skills and put them into practice in everyday life. Real change begins when insight becomes action, and transformation happens when those new skills take root in the moments that matter most. Whether you’re navigating stress, relationship challenges, or seeking personal growth, therapy can help you move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and support.

How do I get started?

You can reach out through the contact form on this website or by phone. I’ll follow up quickly to schedule a brief consultation call and help you take the next step.

What is your cancellation policy?

I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a session. Late cancellations or missed appointments may be subject to the full session fee.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes. Your privacy is a top priority. Everything shared in session is confidential, with the exception of situations where I am legally required to break confidentiality — such as concerns about safety. We’ll review these limits together in your intake paperwork so you know exactly what to expect.

What if I’m in crisis?

I am not able to provide 24/7 crisis services. If you are in immediate danger, please call 911. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, you can dial 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or go to your nearest emergency department.
